This is more cool information about the game and Easter Eggs for Mortal Kombat

In the 1992 arcade original when fighting on The Pit stage (the bridge), the player could qualify to fight the hidden character Reptile, provided that he executed a Fatality, obtained a double flawless victory and never hit block during the winning round (due to Sonya’s fatality combination including the block button, she was only allowed to face Reptile on the home ports). This character was a merger between the Sub-Zero and Scorpion characters. In Mortal Kombat II, Reptile would be developed into a full character with his own special moves and would be available from the outset. The Sega Genesis versions had some unique eggs: in Mortal Kombat, a headshot of President of Probe Software Fergus McGovern flew in front of the moon in Mortal Kombat’s Pit stage, while in Mortal Kombat II, Raiden could perform a “Fergality” by pressing Back, Back, Back, Block during a fatality on the Armory stage.

Some Easter eggs originated from private jokes between members of the Mortal Kombat development team. The best-known example is “Toasty”, which found its way into the game in the form of a small image of sound designer Dan Forden, who would appear in the corner of the screen during game play (after performing an uppercut) and sing the word “Toasty” (players could face Smoke, when this happened on the Portal stage and after pressing the joystick/directional button Down and the Start button simultaneousely while the Toasty! image was on screen).” Later games included other jokes that originated in similar fashion; Mortal Kombat 4 had characters quickly uttering unintelligible battle cries such as saying “ooh I’m gonna throw you over there” when a player performed a throw (in fact, are screams of silly words in Spanish like “play the piano”) in a similar fashion to Raiden’s utterances in the first two games. Another note of interest in Mortal Kombat 4, Forden would also appear at the bottom of the screen and sing “Toasty 3D!” referring to the fact the Mortal Kombat 4 was the first 3D game in the series. “Toasty” is also found in Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks after pulling off a chain of hits and will appear randomly, but the picture of Forden will not appear. Pressing the start button during the “Toasty” will also result in the player receiving a 1000 experience points bonus. Another private joke was the hidden character Noob Saibot, who appeared in various versions of the game. The character’s name derived from two of the game’s creators, Ed Boon, and John Tobias, although Noob Saibot’s name would later be shortened to just “Noob” after Tobias left the company.

 Inspiration from popular culture

In addition to being referenced in many forms of popular culture, Mortal Kombat itself derives inspiration from many elements of popular culture. Many of the sources of inspiration share a commonality, in that Arnold Schwarzenegger films, Jean-Claude Van Damme films and John Carpenter’s 1986 cult film Big Trouble in Little China seem to have a tremendous bearing on the game’s original inspiration. The following list is only a select few examples:

The character name Sub-Zero was inspired in part by a character of the same in 1987’s The Running Man, a popular Arnold Schwarzenegger film. In the film, Sub-Zero was a “Stalker” that dwelled within an icy environment similar to a hockey rink, filled with deadly traps. The character himself was not garbed as a ninja, but was a rather portly fellow in hockey gear sporting a serrated blade-edge hockey stick. The character was played by Professor Toru Tanaka.

The character Johnny Cage was inspired largely by Jean-Claude Van Damme’s character in the film Bloodsport. He not only shared many of Frank Dux’s martial arts techniques (including the “nut-punch”), he also wore almost identical clothing. The Mortal Kombat tournament itself is largely inspired by the Kumite, which was a secret tournament that only the greatest of martial artists were invited to.

Ed Boon stated in a 1995 issue of popular video game magazine Gamepro that the visual design behind Mortal Kombat 3 newcomers Cyrax, Sektor and the robot form of Smoke were largely inspired by the Predator and Boba Fett. They even shared similar techniques, as Cyrax has a self-destruct Fatality which is activated by a wrist-computer like the Predator and Sektor had a wrist-mounted flamethrower like Boba Fett.

Kabal is largely inspired by Star Wars character Darth Vader with his similar breathing apparatus keeping him alive and horrific facial disfigurements. He also shares similarities to Tusken Raiders in the design of his mask. Additionally, early concept art of Luke Skywalker featured the young Jedi in a mask that connects to belt-mounted canisters used as a breathing apparatus via a tube, very similar to the design on Kabal’s mask.

Scorpion’s fire-breathing fatality features the ninja removing his mask to reveal a skull underneath. The flaming skull concept is somewhat inspired by Marvel Comics character Ghost Rider.

Shang Tsung’s design in the first Mortal Kombat game was largely influenced by the character Lo Pan from the 1986 film Big Trouble in Little China. Lo Pan’s mortal form was that of a decrepit old man who looked to be hundreds of years old. Shang Tsung bore a similar look due to his premature aging at the hands of Shao Kahn, a punishment for failing to conquer Earthrealm through the Mortal Kombat tournament. Subsequently, as Shang Tsung’s youth was restored in later games he bore a distinct resemblance to the youthful ethereal form of Lo Pan.

Characters Raiden and Fujin are actual gods in Japanese mythology. Much like Shang Tsung, their designs were based largely on characters featured in Big Trouble in Little China. Two of Lo Pan’s deadly warriors were similar in look and/or powers, such as manipulation of lightning or moving like the wind.

Kano’s glowing red eye is a nod toward Arnold Schwarzenegger film The Terminator.

Liu Kang is inspired by martial arts legend Bruce Lee in all aspects of his design, including his “whooping” sounds, his outfits and use of Jeet Kun Do.

The implied friendly rivalry between Liu Kang and Johnny Cage may be an acknowledgement of the on-screen rivalry between Bruce Lee and Chuck Norris. The two had a legendary battle in the 1972 film “Meng Long Guo Jiang” or Return of the Dragon as it is known in the U.S.A.

The original Mortal Kombatwas developed as a reaction to the popular Capcom fighting game Street Fighter II, with digitized graphics of actors, as opposed to animated cartoon graphics. Critics said the game’s graphic violence was only included in order to generate a public outcry and controversy that would gain publicity for the game. Although highly controversial, the mix of realism and violence propelled Mortal Kombat to widespread and historic renown.

Throughout the series, the game was known for its over-the-top violence which included fatalities, uppercuts that sprayed blood and launched players into the air, its theatrical special moves, as well as a tendency to replace instances of the hard c sound with the letter “K” in its written lexicon, including the title.

Mortal Kombat (commonly abbreviated as MK) is a series of fighting games created by Ed Boon and John Tobias. Mortal Kombat began as a series of arcade games, which were picked up by Acclaim Entertainment for the home console versions. Now Midway exclusively creates home versions of Mortal Kombat. It is especially noted for its digitized sprites (which differentiated it from its contemporaries’ hand-drawn sprites), and its high levels of blood and gore, including, most notably, its graphic fatalities—finishing moves, requiring a sequence of buttons to perform, which, in part, led to the creation of the ESRB.

 The One Being and The Elder Gods
At the beginning of time, there only existed two types of beings: The Elder Gods and the One Being. The One Being gained his power by draining that of the Elder Gods. Eventually the Elder Gods declared war on the One Being to save themselves. In the end, the Elder Gods created 6 weapons called the Kamidogu. When they used the Kamidogu,[clarify] the One Being split into many pieces, although its consciousness survived. The Kamidogu became lost in 6 different pieces of the One Being. Eventually, these pieces became the realms, and life began to grow inside them. There were 6 main realms: Earthrealm, Netherrealm, Outworld, Orderrealm (Seido), Chaosrealm, and Edenia, each with a representative Kamidogu which held the essence of each realm. The question was then asked of how realms could be combined. The Elder Gods decreed that the denizens of one realm could only conquer another realm by defeating the defending realm’s greatest warriors in ten consecutive Mortal Kombat tournaments.

The Elder Gods watched over the realms, and governed the realms with untold wisdom; but one such Elder God, known as Shinnok, gave in to greed and the illusion of false power and wanted the new realm of Earth for himself; however, the Elder Gods had appointed the young God of Thunder known as Raiden to protect Earth. The battle between Raiden and Shinnok was fierce, sending Earth to its near destruction and plunging it into centuries of darkness. Raiden discovered that Shinnok entered the realm through the power of a mystical amulet. It allowed Shinnok to weaken the borders of a realm and therefore enter the realm without challenge and keep the Elder Gods from interfering. Forced to choose between destroying the budding Saurian civilization or to give Earthrealm to Shinnok, Raiden chose the former and stripped the amulet of Shinnok’s possession and with the aid of Elder Gods banished the fallen Elder God to the Netherrealm. Raiden buried the amulet deep with the mountains of Asia and created a massive temple to house the amulet and appointed four guardians to serve as the protectors of the amulet. These guardians represented an element that make up the realm: Wind (Fujin), Earth, Water, and Fire. As long as the amulet remained on Earth, Shinnok would remain trapped in the Netherrealm.
Concept
The Mortal Kombat tournament was originally thought to be a solely human conception, until later recons revealed it to be universal among the series’ featured Realms, created by the Elder Gods as a way for other realms to defend themselves against Outworld after it grew too powerful.

A realm may declare Mortal Kombat on another realm if they wish to invade it and conquer it. Once one party declares Mortal Kombat, the other party may not refuse. A tournament ensues, where the combatants will be knocked out until the reigning champion does battle with the challenger. Once defeated, a single Tournament victory is added for the realm. Once that realm earns ten Tournament victories in a row, they earn the right to invade the losing realm. This is the only ‘legal’ way for a realm to invade another, and any violation of this rule is seen as treason against the Elder Gods. The reigning champion will have their aging suspended by the Elder Gods until the next tournament.
Mortal Kombat: Liu Kang, who is a young monk, defeats Goro, thus breaking his winning streak and preventing Outworld’s invasion of Earth. Shang Tsung challenges Liu Kang to a battle but is defeated while trying to salvage something from his champion’s loss. As such, he is forced to relinquish his hold on the tournament and flee back to Outworld. 500-0 years before Mortal Kombat: The Great Kung Lao held his position as Grand Champion for only one generation, after which his title - and his life - was taken by Shang Tsung’s newest warrior, Goro, who held the title for another eight victories.1000-500 years before Mortal Kombat: The first known Mortal Kombat tournament, created when sorcerer Shang Tsung, under orders by Outworld emperor Shao Kahn, took control of an Earthrealm Shaolin tournament in a bid to upset the furies and invade Earth. In the first tournament, Shang Tsung was defeated by Great Kung Lao.

THE SIMS TIPS & TRICKS

Alien Abduction

Put stoves, a refrigerator, and a grill around your Sim and make the grill burn so that a fire will start. When the sim is on fire and the grim reaper comes, do the move_objects cheat and move the reaper away. Aliens will come and steal your Sim.

Floor Swimming

Place your Sim in a pool and then use the move_objects cheat to pick the Sim up and place it on the floor. Your Sim will be swimming on the floor, making for great picture-taking opportunities.

Tombstone

First, type “boolprop testingcheatsenabled true” into the cheat bar and press Enter. Then, hold down Shift and click on a person (usually the mother). Click more and you’ll get an option that says “the tombstone of L and D”.

Build Money Faster

Enter code: !;!;!;!;!;!;!;!;!;!; It will say there is no such cheat, but it will build your money up a lot faster than the normal.

Raise Sims Mood Bars

When using the move_object cheat you can restore your Sims mood bars by getting your Sim to sit in a chair, pausing the game and deleting the chair that your Sim is in. Your Sim will disappear. Unpause the game and click on your Sims face icon and your Sim will reappear with some restored bars.

Floating house

Construct pillars to hold up a huge 2nd story. Then when your 2nd story is done go to the 1st story and remove the pillars.

How to miss work

Miss work without being fired! [You won’t get paid, but at least you’ll get vacation!]. Make an addition to your house, on the street. If you live on the corner, make it on both streets. You’ll hear your carpool honk, but it won’t be able to get to your house.

Never Pay Bills

Use the cheat code move_objects on, and delete the mailbox. You will never have to pay a bill again, because there is no mailbox for bills to come in.

Have your Sim collect the bills from the mailbox and set them somewhere. Bring up the cheat box (Ctrl+Shift+C) and type “move_objects on”. Pick up the bills and delete them. Beware: Do not delete your mailbox! This will keep you from having any guests or being able to call someone.

Don’t delete your mailbox. You will still have to pay bills, but the mailman will not come to deliver the bills. In a while the dreaded Repo-man will come and take all of your expensive items.

Social Services

If the social services are coming to get your baby, hold down CTRL + ALT + SHIFT + C. Then type in: move_objects on. Then click ENTER. Go on the BUY MODE and click on the woman who comes to collect your baby. Then press delete and the woman is deleted, your baby is reborn and you can rename it as well.

How to make ghosts

First you have to kill some Sims, and then put a fence around their grave so the Sims won’t mourn them (or just stop them from mourning). Then, (this may take awhile) around midnight the ghosts come out. Remember that ghosts can’t hurt you they just float.

Easy Money

If you have put all the cheats on, go into non electrical, and select the tree at the end. A monkey will then come out and clean your house and give you £20.

An easy way to get a ton of money with no job is to exit the game, browse to the folder you installed the game in. Open the UserData Folder and copy the Houses folder to your desktop. Reopen the game, and sell everything in your house! Then exit the game and copy the houses folder from your desktop over the old houses folder in Userdata. When you open the game again you will have everything back, and still have the money from selling it all. You can repeat the process over and over again! You can also move houses by changing the numbers in the houses folder. Be sure you backup your houses folder first!

Get away with neglecting your baby

If you have a baby, and the Social Worker comes because you have neglected the baby, use the move_objects on cheat to delete the social worker. That way, a new baby will appear and you can have another chance. Also take advantage of this is you want a boy, but got a girl, and vice versa.

Stop your babies crying

If your Sim baby is crying, try this method. When the baby starts crying, have your Sim feed the baby twice in a row, then sing to it. The baby should stop crying.

Delete fire

If you are using the genie lamp, and the genie makes a mistake and in the dialogue box it says that there is a fire, immediately pause after pressing OK. Look for where fire usually is in your house (or where the genie has created fire before - its always in the same spot) and use the move_objects on cheat to delete the fire.

Delete Misery Clown

First put on the cheat box on (ctrl+shift+C). When the misery clown comes, enter move_objects on, and then get the hand tool pick up the clown then press delete. Beware because he still might return.

More fun with move_objects_on

When your Sims carpool to work, freeze the game and do the “move_objects_on” cheat. Then pick up the car and surround it with walls where ever you want a garage the car won’t be able to escape. If you want to get fancy you can make a driveway with road tile. You can have more fun and catch the school bus!

Instant Refreshment

Save your game. Use the “move_objects on” cheat and delete your Sim, and then go to live mode and click on that characters icon to bring them back. Once they are back they should have all of their motives maxed except for Room.

Misery Clown

If you get the misery clown, then just buy the clown painting, and put it over a fire. Keep making your Sims light a fire beneath it, until the carpet sets on fire. This will burn the painting and the clown with it. Look for the clown to watch it burn, baby, burn.

Perfect Sim

First, make a Sim with no personality points, and then make a yellow potion with the chemistry set. When they drink it, their personality will be completely opposite. They will have: neat 10; nice 10; outgoing 10; active 10.

For more friends

Build your neighborhood and fill every house w/ at least 4 people. Then play the other houses and make them throw a party to meet your main person. Have them invite them over later. Have them make friends with you so that their moods go down, not yours. Save the game and when you go back to your house you will have them as friends. You can do this with every house. In every neighborhood.

Unlimited snacks

If you want easy cash or unlimited snacks, make your Sim “Have a Snack” from the refrigerator. When the yellow ring goes around the action and your Sim is taking the snack from the refrigerator, stop that action. Although your Sim is still taking the snack out of the refrigerator, you will not have to pay for it. Your Sims instead will just place the snack on the floor. After this, use the “move_objects on” cheat and delete the chips. This way, you will get $15 without paying for the snack.

Kill your Character

Make a swimming pool, send he/she in and then take the ladders and diving board away.

Flying Bull

Push Ctrl+Shift+C, type move_objects, push Enter and then tell one of your Sims to get on the bull. When it starts to move hit the buy button grab the bottom out from under the Sim and the bull part of the device will float and buck fill free to take pictures.

Paying the Bills

Simply keep a bill, unpaid, until the mail carrier delivers the next set. When your flag is up (your mailbox is full of more bills). Pay the first one (i.e., bring it out to the mailbox). When you do this, the newer bills disappear. Using this cheat, you will only have to pay every other bill, instead of every one.

Skill boost

When creating a Sim, first make them a child. Click done then edit them and make them an adult. When you move them in, they will have a skill boost.

How to Make Your Sim Happy

First you put the cheat code bar up (Ctrl+shift+c) then type move_objects ON, and then go to buy-mode then you click on the unhappy Sim, and at the bottom it will say push delete to dispose of <unknown>. Then you press delete and go to live mode and click on the Sims face icon and VULA the Sims mood bar is one block from the top almost completely happy now the Sim can study.

Kiss a loved one

If you wanted to have your Sim study or kiss their loved one but their not in the mood or they’re pushing them away, you can use the cheat code move_objects ON. Next go to objects then delete the Sim then go to live mode and simply click on there face icon and they will appear on the lower level. Their mood bar will be fully restored then you can make them study or kiss.

For a big garden

Make a house, first and second stories, but don’t decorate the first story. Make the second story as usual, and when you have finished, delete the walls of the first story. You will notice that the house can still stay up, with no posts, and all you have to do is put a couple of sets of stairs! Now you have a big house (upstairs) and you can build a big garden with a huge pool (downstairs).

Get abducted by aliens

If you buy a telescope (turn off free will) and look in it for ages. Eventually your Sim will be abducted by aliens, and eventually he’ll come back. Site owner recommends between the hours 7pm and 2am.

How to get free food: snacks

Make your Sim get a snack then when he/she is “in” the fridge, and then cancel the action: The Sim should have dropped the snack. Then make them eat it: They wont pay.

Meals

Make your Sim prepare a meal, and when you see the things they use to make it, go to buy mode and use the “move_objects on” cheat* and put the meal somewhere: then make them prepare it: they won’t pay. Tip: if you want them to use the food processor put it on the FLOOR close to the food processor. *this might work without the cheat.

Santa Clause

First you need to buy a fire place, a plate of cookies (make sure you have a table to put them on), and a Christmas Tree all in the same room close to each other and Santa will come and bring presents.

TV Programs

Sims with different personalities will prefer different TV programs. Here’s a quick list of preferences: playful = cartoon; grouchy = horror; active = action; outgoing = romance.

Gardening For Profit

When creating your yard, flowers and trees add almost equivalent value to room score, but trees don’t require any maintenance. The gardener can water flowers for you, but you will save a lot of money in the long run if you use trees and not flowers.

Slot Machine Tip

The downloadable slot machine is a money cheat. If your Fun motive is low, your odds of winning simoleans are very high.

How to make ghosts

First you have to kill some sims, then put a fence around their grave so the sims won’t mourn them. (or just stop them from mourning.) Then (this may take awhile) around midnight the ghosts come out. REMEMBER: Ghosts can’t hurt you they just float.

Full Green Bars

First bring up the cheat window, then type in the ”move_objects on” code. Now, save the game, and when that’s done, any time you want to regenerate happy fully-green-bar sims, pause the game, select them and delete them. Now press play, and click on thier heads, and they should pop up somewhere, with all of thier bars fully green. PLEASE NOTE-if you are working on their skills like charisma and whatnot, you MUST save the game BEFORE deleting them! If you do not save the game, they will appear again as if you restarted the game, and thier skills will be lost!!

Free pizza

First, order pizza. Then use move_objects on cheat to take the
pizza out of his hand! then delete the pizza guy. If you enter the cheat ‘kid’ (without the ‘ ‘) your kids will be able 2 do adult stuff. Freak out the maid (makin` magic only). First,hire a maid then buy the skeleton closet and make sure the maid sees one of the skeletons and she will freak out and quit. then hire her again.

Floating house cheat

Build a ground floor house shape don’t decorate it or anything then build an upstairs, put in the all floor and walls you need buy stuff, and then deleat the ground floor put in stair and you will have a floating house.

Missing work and not getting fired

When your sims carpool arrives go to buy mode make the cheat code (ctrl shift c) pop up type in (move_objects on then delete the car and the next day skip work without cheat code but don’t answer the phone when you have skipped a day of work you wont be fired.

Magic garbage bag

The following trick will save the time needed to take the garbage to the street. Buy the 30 simolian trash can. Order your Sim to empty it, then cancel the order just as they remove the bag from the trashcan. Then, order them to pick up the mess that they just created. Your Sim will return the full bag to an empty can. Repeat this each time it fills and trash will never have to be brought outside again.

Move_Objects Cheats

What you do is you put move_objects on in the cheat bar and then you click on you Sim delete it and then click on its face it will re-appear. Another cheat is delete your dustbin when a sim goes to put something in the bin tell her to pick it off the floor this will make your rubbish disappear! another cheat is deleting your letter box! you don’t have to pay bills and you get away with missing work.

Loads of Money

If you want loads of money go to the Goth family. Evict them and edit them and if you want delete them, but don’t delete Mortimor because he has a good job and you get loads of money from him.

How to kill a Sim

Enclose your victim within a wall, and make sure it cannot escape (make sure there are no doors) Place one or more fireplaces in the room (the more there are the quicker the death). Place any kind of furniture directly next to or in front of the fireplace (i.e. a sofa or a rug), and get your sim to light the fire. Within seconds, the furniture should catch fire, leaving your Sim no option but to be burnt alive. Expect a visit from the grim reaper!

Blanka and Bison had him turned into our favorite character Blanka. Chun-Li is an news reporter along with E. Honda and Balrog as her crew. Shes investigating the war in Shadaloo, And shes after M. Bison for Killing her father and revenging her village. so shes on a revenge trip. Ken and Ryu, Ryu looked good in the movie but Ken (he was a blonde in the game duuuh). they were two bit hustlers. They .They are arrested along with Sagat, a powerful arms dealer and Vega for dealing of illegal weapons. Guile recruits them in order to find Bison’s base. Now Guile, T. Hawk, Cammy, Ryu, Ken, Chun Li, Balrog and E. Honda have three days before Bison murders the hostages and takes over the world.

As a kid I loved the movie, But I also think it was not the best. Blanka looked funny, It was hard to show some of the cool moves each character used in the game as a live action movie. This would be a great movie to redo now a days since we have the technology to produce blockbusters.

I searched the Internet for Pics of our heros and losers. I tried my best to line them up to their names. I laughed at the pic as I looked them up. I’m sorry but Blanka looks horrible. On Sci-Fi channel you see the Old HULK TV show, by the looks of Blanka the same guy did his make up, but The Hulk even with the bad wig looks better then Blanka….

Street Fighter made its debut in the arcades in 1987. It was designed by Takashi Nishiyama and Hiroshi Matsumoto. The player took control of lone martial artist Ryu, who competed in a worldwide martial arts tournament, spanning five countries and ten opponents. A second player could join in at any time and take control of Ryu’s rival, Ken.

You the player could perform 3 types of kick attacks and punches. The our favorite special attacks, Ball Of Fire, Dragon Punch and Hurricane kick. Only if you new how to perform them by pushing buttons in a certain order.
 
I know that the first only had two playable characters Ryu an Ken but the legacy this game started is a wonderful thing.
 I love the story of Ryu and Ken, They trained at the same Dojo in the mountains. Starting at a young age the grew up as sparring partners. Ken the more cocky and outspoken one and Ryu the quiet and reserved. Which made them perfect partners as if true yin and yang  paired them.

When they grew up and finished their training they went separate ways. Ryu took the long walk and just went the way the wind blew him and Ken, he took his fighting skills to the main screen he was a somewhat actor, in and out stunt double per-say.

I watch many of the cartoons of Street Fighter and this is how I see  Ken & Ryu are portrayed….

Double Dragon the Movie…

A wonderful movie from 1994 that half of us like and half of us hated.

In 1994 I like anything that came from a game to movie.

 The basic story

                Set 15 years in the future in post-earthquake California, where San Diego and Los Angeles are merged into one city, two teenage brothers battle an evil crime lord for possession of the magical Double Dragon medallion.

                Ok we have flaws already this is not a setting like the game, the game was based after Nuclear War. Another flaw is the game was based in New York City, not in California. Another plot flaw in my books is it’s not a medallion they protect; the girl gets kidnapped so the whole game you defeat bad guys to get the girl back. So it was not a dark dirty story, back in the 90s they sugar coated a lot stuff for the kiddies. If they made the movie now it would be awesome because we’re not hypersensitive to violence anymore. The CGI would make things possible for more action.

  I think they should redo all the old 90s game movies, they re-did Starwars, why not redo some older game movies.

   Enough of my rant, here is the list of stars in the movie:

Ok I liked the movie when I was a kid, I still watch it to this day because of my childhood but the Location, and reasons were changed from the game. I would give an A- because of the time period of the movie. Please give me your thoughts? what did you think of this movie? Double Dragon…………. For the NES 

The Kanji characters in the game’s title literally reads Sōsetsuryū (双截龍, Sōsetsuryū^?), which roughly means “Twin Intercepting Dragons”, a reference to the game’s title as well as a reference to “Sōsetsuken”, the fictional martial art style used by the Lee brothers. However, both the game and series are known as “Double Dragon” even in Japan.

This was one of my Favorite Beat ‘em Up games for the NES.  It came out for NES in 1988  by Technos Japan. It was published in North America by Tradewest. The best thing they did was to put a 2 player simultaneous on the screen. Unlike Mario Bros. 2 players took turns on the screen. 

Story line for those who forgot…… 

The story of Double Dragonis set in a post-apocalypic version of New York City, five years after a nuclear-war, where gangs and criminal organizations have taken control of the city. The protagonists are Billy and Jimmy Lee, the titular duo and the successors of a fictional martial art style known as Sōsetsuken (loosely based on Jeet Kune Do). One day, Billy’s girlfriend, Marian, is kidnapped off the street and the Lee brothers receive a message from her captors, the Black Warriors, demanding to know the secrets of Sōsetsuken in exchange for her safety. The Black Warriors are the largest criminal organization in the city, led by machine gun-toting crime boss Willy Mackey. In the NES version of the plot, Willy is apparently only a figurehead, while Jimmy is the true leader, the Shadow Boss. 

This was the change they made from arcade version to the NES. They also changed hair color from blonde to brown.      This was the kicker in playing the game was the other brother was the bad guy, which is called the old switch-a-roo. A lot of games today do this, I have seen it and was impressed how a character can be with you through most of the game then turns on you…….  

While playing the game you only fight 2 enemies at a time and if you had a weapon you lost it when you moved which sucked. Then find lives was hard enough. 

Double Dragonalso spawned a series of related media in the United States, which includes a six-issue comic published by Marvel in 1991, an animated TV series which ran for two seasons from 1993 to 1995, and a live-action film in 1994. In turn, the animated series and movie inspired their respective video game spin-offs as well, both which were fighting games. The cartoon inspired the Tradewest-developed Double Dragon V:The Shadow Falls, released in 1994 for the SNES and Genesis (also ported to theArtari Jaguere); while characters and plot elements from the movie were adapted into the 1995 Technos-developed Neo-Geo version of Double Dragon.
